During the height of the Negro Leagues, teams played at various ballparks, either by renting from white Major League teams or, if they were lucky, owning their own venue. After the collapse of the league in the 1960s, most of the ballparks were subsequently abandoned, fell into disrepair, and demolished. Today, only a few Negro League home ballparks remain.
